Great fun for a great cause

Pimms, teas, live music and children's sumo wrestling.

What does that all add up to? The answer is ‘Fun, fun, fun!’ plus a £38,000 fundraiser for the Hospice Of St Francis.

The hospice hosted its annual garden party on Sunday at Ashridge House, which featured more than 45 stalls in the shopping village, a range of children’s fun, and music from the likes of the Jolly Jazzers and ukulele band the D’Ukes of Ashridge.

Community fundraiser Sarah Ajder said: “I don’t think we’ve ever seen so many people through the gate. It was wonderful to see so many supporters enjoying themselves in what is a truly beautiful setting, and Mother Nature was on our side with the weather. We really couldn’t have asked for more.”

The Hospice Of St Francis cares for people living with life-limiting illnesses across Herts and Bucks, receives just a fifth of its funding from the NHS, with the rest coming from voluntary donations.

lThe next big event for the hospice is its 10th Midnight Walk, on Saturday, June 25, starting at 10pm at Hemel School. For more details or to sign up, visit www.stfrancis.org.uk/midnightwalk
