Summer has only just begun, but an annual charity Christmas card sale is already in need of support.
The event is a regular fixture in the Berkhamsted calendar, but there are fears this could be its last year as costs continue to rise and the charities involved are finding it increasinly hard to compete with high street greetings card offerings.
The group of good causes, which include Age UK Dacorum, Cats Protection, DENS, Chiltern Dogs Rescue Society and many more, have been coming together to sell festive cards and stocking fillers for more than 50 years and are now appealing for help from sponsors and Dacorum businesses to secure venue hire, printing and marketing costs.
Over the years the project has helped raised thousands for both borough-based and national charities, and, according to Michelle Hamilton at Age UK Dacorum: “Many local people don’t consider the festive season to have started until they’ve been to The Court House to stock up on their cards and gifts.”
If you can help in any way, call Michelle on 01442 259049 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year’s card sale dates for your diary are November 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 9.30am to midday at The Court House, Berkhamsted.
