Matt Hatton is the station manager for Radio Dacorum, the borough’s community-based radio channel presented by volunteers and on air 24/7. Matt also acts as communications administrator for Community Action Dacorum.
What is your favourite food?
Kofta and Greek Salad
What’s the most played song on your iPod?
Sharon van Etten – Serpents: it was used as the closing music for an episode of The Walking Dead (zombie apocalypse TV series) and it is a regular earworm, along with Maps and Atlases – Solid Ground, which has nothing to do with zombies, it’s just an awesome track
Your favourite quote?
‘Howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power. When you stand before God, you cannot say, “But I was told by others to do thus,” or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice’ – it is from the film Kingdom of Heaven, great film and this quote sums up how I try to live, be true to who you are
Favourite thing to do to relax?
Pub garden and sunshine and maybe cycling but try not to mix them up!
Thing you hate doing the most?
Injecting the diabetic dog with insulin as she winces every time and i wince too and its all just completely horrible
Invite five famous people for dinner, past or present - who and why?
Nikola Tesla because I would want to hear him talk about his ideas and inventions.
The real Jesus to see what he has to say for himself.
Rosalind Franklin, the real discoverer of DNA, I would like to hear her speak about her various discoveries, I can’t really think of anyone else so let’s say Jimmi Hendrix and Plato just to mix it all up a bit
Your Favourite place to go in Dacorum?
I love how green it all is and really enjoy cycling out among it, Gaddesden Row, Ashridge, along the canal, cycling back from Tring to Hemel and stopping at the pubs for a swift half along the way

Nothing, It’s all good, thanks

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
Take yer pick, London to Brighton bike ride, doing stand-up comedy in public for the first time, getting to sleep at night. Oh and starting a radio station at the same time as looking for a job while doing a teaching course, that was fun.
What’s the best/worst gift you’ve ever given/received?
A colander, as a Christmas present from a girlfriend who was rubbish at choosing gifts for people anyway, but that one really took the prize for being so very, very bad

As someone who moved forward and assisted others to do the same
