Now in its 19th year, the annual sale takes place in the picturesque gardens of 64 High Street, Markyate.

As well as colourful annual bedding plants, there will be a selection of perennials, herbs, vegetables and hanging baskets on sale, and the opportunity to exchange ideas with the knowledgeable village horticulturists.

To complete your visit, you can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee and home-baked cakes and refreshments while being entertained by music from The Ionian Clarinet Quartet.

There’s fun for the children too and great raffle prizes to be won.

The volunteer potting team has been busy potting up more than 8,000 plants, even more than last year, in readiness for the event.

They include more than 50 varieties of popular annuals including some new to the sale, such as Chameleon Sunrise Berry (a striking b-colour mini petunia for containers and hanging baskets), Begonia Bonfire Apricot (a vigorous, pendulous begonia for hanging baskets), Scaevola Saligna Sapphire (a vivid blue for containers and baskets) and Gazania White Flame (a welcome change from the yellow and orange forms).

The team is also poised to take orders for their beautiful hanging baskets. To order one, call Ian Bradley 01582 943133 or email [email protected]
