A town twinning to mark historical ties between Kings Langley and France will be formalised this year.
Parish councillors will visit Achiet-le-Grand on November 7 to cement a twinning declaration.
The areas have established a friendship in honour of village war hero Christopher Cox, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his valour near the French town during the First World War.
Phillipe Drouin, vice president of the Somme Remembrance Association and a resident of Achiet-le-Grand, made contact with the parish in 2007.
He said he would like to honour Cox for the role he played in liberating his village.
It is hoped the two areas will build networks between businesses, organisations and schools.
Membership of the Twinning Working Group will be decided at Kings Langley Parish Council's annual meeting on May 5.
