A zoo elephant’s paintwork could raise a trunk full of cash on eBay.
Karishma, a 14-year-old asian elephant at Whipsnade, has proved to be a dab hand since first picking up a brush.
Her latest work of art is her daubings on a large wooden elephant. It’s her first masterpiece to be listed on the internet auction site, with bidding starting at just 1p.
The money raised will go to elephant conservation projects. The auction opened at 9am on November 16 and closes on November 26. Search “picture painted by elephant at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo”.
Keeper Elizabeth Becker said: “It demonstrates just how dexterous elephants’ trunks really are and we think the end results are pretty amazing, if a little abstract!”
The bid winner will also get a framed photograph of the pachyderm Picasso.
