Drivers are superheroes

Stagecoach drivers from Banbury, Oxford and Witney drove their buses dressed as their favourite superhero on Friday, to raise money for Helen & Douglas House children's hospice.

From 4am, when the first shift began, passengers boarding the bus found Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman in the driving seat.

Drivers donated money to take part.

Bus driver Clayton Moore said: “We’re dressing up as heroes for the day but the staff at Helen & Douglas House are the real heroes.

“It’s been great to see the likes of Batman, Superman, Spiderman and Wonder Woman in the driving seat of some of Oxfordshire’s Stagecoach buses today and we hope we’ve helped raise awareness of Helen & Douglas House and what the team there do for families from across the region.”

Helen & Douglas House corporate fundraiser Suzi Attree said: “We are reliant on voluntary donations to raise the £5 million we need every year to run the hospice service.

“The support of companies such as Stagecoach in Oxfordshire is invaluable to us.

“Comic heroes are something the children at Helen & Douglas House love so we’re delighted to be part of this fantastic fundraising idea.”
