Delve into the history of Natural History

The Natural History Museum at Tring in Akerman Street

The Natural History Museum at Tring in Akerman Street

To celebrate its inspiring past, the Natural History Museum at Tring will be hosting a special History Day this month.

There will be displays, talks, walking tours and drop-in sessions that will allow you to share your special memories and experiences with other visitors and museum staff, as well as the current exhibitions and galleries.

You’ll be taken on an inspiring journey through the history of Rothschild, the museum and the local area in what will be a free event.

The collections of the Natural History Museum at Tring were once the private passion of Lionel Walter Rothschild. The Rothschild family gifted the entire Museum and its collections to the nation in 1937. During his lifetime, Walter Rothschild collected thousands of natural history specimens, from mammals and birds to butterflies and giant tortoises.
