Motorists have called for a review of safety barriers on the A41 near Bourne End following two crashes there in the past week.

In separate incidents, two cars left the road and plummeted down the embankment into the McDonald’s car park. Their drivers and passengers suffered only minor injuries, and Herts County Council contractor Ringway was sent to repair the fence.

A spokesperson for Herts County Council said: “Ringway is aware of the situation and will arrange to repair the damaged fence.

“They will be inspecting the site tomorrow and if that inspection, or our records of incidents at this location, indicate there may be a safety problem we will consider further work.”
