Cash for splash! Campaigners launch donations page to raise funds for park plan

Could a splash park be coming to Hemel Hempstead?

Could a splash park be coming to Hemel Hempstead?

Campaigners behind a bid to open a splash pool for little ones in a park have launched a page where supporters can make donations to the project.

Dad-of-three Ben Armstrong launched the campaign after being unimpressed with facilities for young children at Hemel Hempstead’s Gadebridge Park.

His online petition calling for a splash park, café and better toilets attracted thousands of signatures from like-minded mums and dads.

Now leader of Dacorum Borough Council Andrew Williams and Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning have got on board.

The council has agreed to fund half of the project, expected to cost around £330,000, if campaigners can come up with the rest of the cash.

This week a donation page has been launched and business sponsors are also being sought.

Businesses and supporters can now pledge money to support the scheme online
