A car dealership is holding a free workshop giving advice to increase confidence behind the wheel - but it’s only open to women.
The evening is being organised by Roy Chapman Ltd, based in Berkhamsted, who celebrated 40 years in business earlier this year.
Billed as a ‘ladies evening’, the workshop is being held in partnership with the Tring and Berkhamsted safer neighbourhood teams and it takes place on Wednesday June 18 between 7pm and 9pm.
As part of the event, women will be given tips on areas including preparing for a long journey, what to do in the event of a breakdown, driving skills, driving on motorways and personal safety.
There is also an opportunity to win a free car service.
A spokesperson for Roy Chapman Ltd, who are on the hunt for a new premises after selling their High Street base to supermarket Lidl said: “We have decided to hold events just for ladies because we have found in the past that men are often quite upfront when it comes to buying cars, and that women sometimes lack confidence.”
Asked whether some women might consider the event patronising, the spokesperson added: “We have never found that to be the case and we have certainly never heard anyone express that view to us.
“If any ladies do find it condescending then they do not have to attend.
“If a lot of people perceived it as negative then we would not hold such an evening.”
