Members of the Dacorum Patients Group are urging people in the borough to make use of the participation groups available at their local GP surgeries.
As part of the Patient Participation Awareness initiative, which runs throughout next week, the group is encouraging patients to find out more about the opportunities at their surgery and to get involved.
The group canvasses for local views on health services and provides patient representatives on local health bodies, and its main aim is to ensure the patient voice is heard.
Almost all GP surgeries in Dacorum will have a participation group for patients to have their say, and they also provide practical support in the surgery, fosterimproved communication between the practice and its patients and help patients to take more responsibility for their health.
To improve awareness of these groups and their benefits, the Dacorum Patients Group has organised be displays in some surgeries and libraries in the borough, and Everest House Surgery’s patient participation group will be holding a health fair in conjunction with Adeyfield Community Centre.
