Kings Langley becomes King's Landing to coincide with the DVD launch of Game of Thrones' third series.

Game of Thrones fans who pilgrimaged to Kings Langley to pose with a specially-created sign themed around the show could now own the unusual artefact.

Dacorum Borough Council – behind the two-week tourism-boosting scheme centred around the release of the US TV drama’s third series – is selling one of the ‘King’s Landing’ signs on web auction site eBay.

The ten-day auction went live at 9am this morning with a starting price of £49.99, and has so far attracted one bid.

The money raised will be split between two borough-based charities – Dacorum Community Trust and The Waterside Centre in Kings Langley.

Council spokesman Sara Hamilton said: “A few weeks on from the PR stunt that saw Kings Langley temporarily change the village’s name to King’s Landing, the wooden sign is being sold to the highest bidder.

“This means that a fan of the show will get a unique piece of history at the same time as Dacorum charities benefitting from any monies raised.”

The other sign is being kept by the creators, TSE Productions, based in Great Gaddesden.
