There will be a carers information event at Hemel Hempstead Hospital on Wednesday, June 8, as part of the charity’s events to reach out to unpaid carers to provide advice or identify them so they get the support they need.

Carers, staff and volunteers from Carers in Hertfordshire will be at the hospital from 10am to 3pm to answer any questions people may have or provide information.

Carers will also be able to register for Carers in Hertfordshire’s ‘Carers’ Passport’ discount card that recognises their valuable role and gives them savings in shops, restaurants, leisure activities and in a range of businesses.

Carers in Hertfordshire chief executive Michèle Stokes said: “Without help and support at the right time, carers can find themselves facing financial hardship, health problems, emotional stress and relationship breakdown.

“We want to ensure carers identify themselves and know about the support available to them and can access it if they wish. We have reached just over 20,000 carers, but know there are more not accessing support, as there are at least 115,000 people in the county caring for someone.

“This Carers Week we will be out and about in the community trying to reach out to carers and we look forward to meeting you.”
