The Dacorum Hospital Action Group (DHAG) is hosting the forum at the Medical Centre at Hemel Hempstead Hospital on Monday evening (June 27) at 7.30pm and anyone is free to enter.

DHAG chairman Betty Harris said: “The clinical commissioning group are looking at new sites and will be making a decision some time in mid-July as to where we could have a new hospital.

“We want as many people as possible to let us know their views so that we can make them known, loud and clear, to the people who are making the decisions.

People often stop me or other DHAG members in the street and tell us to keep fighting, but we need as much support as possible and we need to know exactly what they want.

“We hope that any new hospital will be fit for the 21st century, and which will be accessible for everyone.”

The Herald Express and our sister titles the Hemel Gazette and the Berkhamsted & Tring Gazette have been fighting afresh for a new hospital to serve West Herts since the start of the year.

The topic of hospital care in the area has been a controversial one ever since a number of key services,

including A&E, were removed from Hemel Hempstead in 2009. As a result the nearest A&E department for most HEX readers is at Watford, a hospital often criticised for its poor access roads and proximity to Watford FC’s ground which is particularly problematic on matchdays.
