A Level results: Tring Park School

For the third year in a row the school’s A and A* percentage has risen, this year reaching to 34.3 per cent.

And students’ hard work also saw the school achieved its highest-ever A* percentage across all subjects at A Level, while 77 per cent of students achieved a Distinction or Distinction * in BTEC Performing Arts.

Stand-out performers include Isobel Clarke (A*, A* and A, in maths, further maths and physics), Holly Mitchell (A*, A*, and A, in art, English literature and German), Grace Proctor (A*, A* and A, in biology, English literature and history), Charlotte Saunders (A*, A* and Distinction*, in drama and theatre studies, history and BTEC performing arts), Danielle Saunders (A*, A and Distinction*, in drama and theatre studies, psychology and BTEC performing arts), and finally Toby Spence-Jones (A*, A, and A in maths, physics and music).

The performance in the AS examinations was also very pleasing with the A-B percentage rising to 48.6 per cent. Oliver Nicholas was the stand-out performer with four A grades at AS. Amelia Dolan, Mariella Dykhoff, Clea Godsill, Aisling Lally and Bethany Taylor achieved three A grades at AS.

Students leaving the school this year will be going to a variety of destinations at prestigious academic and vocational schools throughout the world. Head boy Will Boyes has gained a place to study medicine at Manchester and head girl Olivia Nurmi is heading to the Boston Conservatory in the United States of America to study performing arts.

Principal Stefan Anderson said: “I am extremely proud of the class of 2016 and their A Level results and would like to congratulate them all.

“Their hard work and dedication to both their academic and performing arts studies has paid off. We wish them all the best of luck with their future studies and careers.

“Our pupils spend only 50 per cent of their lessons in school on academic subjects as the rest of their time is focused on performing arts training so these results are proof of how hard they work, and their determination to achieve excellence in all areas of their studies.

“And, while many students are naturally heading off to embark on further courses in performing arts, we also have pupils who are going to study other subjects, such as medicine and English, which is an indication of how an education at Tring Park prepares students for any career path they choose to follow.”

For children keen to follow in the footsteps of the Class of 2016, there will be open days for 2017 admissions in October.

The open days, which take place on October 7, 13 and 14, are a perfect opportunity for parents who have children with a passion for performing to experience the school, meet the principal Stefan and senior members of staff, and enjoy performances by pupils on all the vocational courses in the school’s very own Markova Theatre.
