SOPRANO Amy Ryan is looking forward to her debut with the Aylesbury Opera Group when she will play the role of Adina in Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore, at The Court Theatre in Tring, on February 24, 26 and 27.
Amy said: "It's wonderful to be playing the role of Adina because whilst the role is technically demanding she is also such a fun and lively character to play."
TAylesbury Opera group is one of the very few amateur opera groups in the country that aims to produce a full, high quality opera in English every year.
Following on from last year's lavish Carmen, ‘L'Elisir d'Amore, which means The Love Potion, with its sparkling and colourful, is set in the south of Italy.
It deals with the attempts of the penniless peasant, Nemorino to win the hand of the wealthy village beauty, Adina. He decides that what he needs is the elixir of love. Enter dubious quack ‘Doctor' Dulcamara, offering lotions and potions for all requirements.
