Wood fire still smoulders on

editorial image

Firefighters are still visiting a fire at a recycling centre once a day to make sure it remains under control.

The blaze in Appspond Lane, on the border of Hemel Hempstead and St Albans, still smoulders on after a massive pile of wood caught alight on November 10. The inferno could be seen from the M1.

Now the site operators are in charge of keeping the flames under control with the help of the fire service.
