Woman choked on food

An 80-YEAR-OLD woman was found dead after choking on her food, an inquest heard.

Mollie Martin, from Chapel Close, Little Gaddesden, died in her warden-assisted bungalow on the afternoon of July 14.

She was found on the floor in the hallway with food in her mouth, Hertfordshire Coroner's Court heard, and a half-eaten sandwich was found in her front room.

Speaking at her inquest last Wednesday (August 25), coroner Edward Thomas said she was last seen by her nurse at 10.30am that morning, and the nurse said she appeared to be in good health.

Mr Thomas, recording a verdict of accidental death, said Ms Martin suffered from a heart condition - a secondary cause of death.
