Week of wins for Potten End

It was a week of wins for Potten End Bowls Club.

The men led the way with a 12-shot victory over a strong Garston team in the Wills Trophy.

They also won their friendly match against Batchwood by 111-78 with the top rink of Mike Mathers, John Driver, Geoff Cottrell and Stan Durrant.

This was followed with a pair of weekend mixed bowls successes.

They saw off local rivals Kitcheners 118-93 with the top rink of Doreen Pike, Frank Willcocks, Dave Gomm and Sue Marshall.

They then went on to beat Barton Le Clay 84-79 in a close match with top rink going to Avis Jackson, Mike Mathers, Sheila Howling and Alan Jones.

The ladies were not to be outdone and beat Kings Langley 38-27 and Bushey 59-51. The top rink of Avis Jackson, Linda Burfot and Jean Jones had a 'hot shot' with all their woods scoring.

Tring's men beat Abbots Langley in a close encounter 56-52. The ladies had mixed fortunes, losing to rivals Berkhamsted 29-6 but beating Kitcheners 23-19.
