Watch out for deadly bracelets
A WARNING has been issued about bracelets made from toxic seeds that were on offer at Whipsnade Zoo and other UK tourist attractions.
The red and black seed bracelets are made from jequirity beans which can be fatal if chewed or swallowed.
Herts Trading Standards has put out the warning after it was revealed that the jewellery had been on offer at 36 retailers across the country.
A spokesman said: “The warning is to draw attention to it just in case these bracelets had been picked up from the retailers.”
People who have brought or been given a seed bracelet like this in the last two years should place it in a sealable bag and dispose of it in their bin. The bracelets were also found to be on sale at London Zoo and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
For more advice, Herts Trading Standards can be contacted on 08454 040506.
