Vodafone mobile phone reception back up and running

After weeks out of action Vodafone mobile phones are now back up and running in Berkhamsted.

A damaged underground cable meant that many customers in the town, who have contracts with the communications company, had been without mobile phone reception since September 12.

The latest glitch was the second time this year that Vodafone’s service had gone down - in April, a cable fault left phones useless for weeks.

It is believed that on both occasions the cable was damaged during building work. It left many customers - possibly hundreds - upset and annoyed, with some threatening to take their business elsewhere.

Now Vodafone has installed a new cable to prevent the problem happening again.

A spokesman said: “Service was restored on Saturday evening. We have been tracking it over the weekend and all seems to be working as expected.”
