VIDEO: World class violinist plays church
Jazz rang through an ancient church in only the second time its 800-year history.
One of the world's leading jazz violinists, Christian Garrick, played Stephane Grappelli style music with his quartet on Sunday (June 21) at St Peter's Church, in Berkhamsted.
The first time jazz was played in St Peter's Church was back in the 1980s when Mr Garrick, who grew up in Berkhamsted, played with his father.
The concert was held to boost funds raised by the church's Petertide Fair committee.
Last weekend the annual Petertide Fair raised around 10,000.
This added to the concert's total, of around 500, means organisers are set for a record breaking amount the church has raised in annual charity events.
Half of the cash will be donated to Reach out- a St Albans charity which organises boat trips for voluntary and community groups.
The other chunk will be sent to Fundacion Junconi A.C, which is a Mexican charity that helps vulnerable children and families affected by violence and poverty.
