Two goals a game striker made to wait for debut
The long-awaited debut of new signing Lawrence Bunker will have to wait at least another few days, until Berkhamsted take on the only side to have won a league game at Broadwater this season.
The postponement of Monday's MSSML Division Two match with Bucks Student Union – which was the Comrades last scheduled home game of 2009 – means the striker, who was the league's top-scorer with rivals Pitstone & Ivinghoe last season, will likely play his first game in Berko's yellow and Blue this Saturday.
The 22-year-old signed three weeks ago but has seen the weather restrict him and his new team mates to just training at the Broadwater ground.
The team travel to Old Bradwell United for their forthcoming fixture, with manager Micky Vipond hoping to get his side back to winning ways after a three week break of games.
"Fingers crossed we will play Saturday" he said, "we have to get playing and keep the momentum going."
On his new signing, who scored 39 goals in 20 games last term, he added: "James Armstrong and Tony Burnett have been scoring goals but we need to add to that.
"We have the option of playing all three of them together and also now if one of them gets injured we don't lose our strike force."
Vipond will be boosted by the return of a number of key players from injury, with the Berko boss looking to steer his side into Division One in 2010.
