A student has ditched his distinctive blonde curly locks for a more streamline look to raise money for a charity trek.
Sam Keil, 13, from Tring School, who had not had his haircut since February, faced the clippers on Thursday for the head shave, raising £300 towards his World Challenge adventure.
He and 31 of his classmates are preparing to travel to Morocco in July where they will spend a week trekking in the Atlas mountains and then a further week helping out with a school community project.
But before setting off next summer, each student has to raise more than £1,400 to cover personal expenses of the trip and they’re also raising funds towards the community project.
The fundraising hair growing and then shave was Sam’s mum’s idea and the young member of Tring Swimming Club has found the shoulder length curls a challenge over the months.
His head was shaved by head of house and World Challenge trip leader Kim Baiden and Tring’s Vanity Fayre hairdresser Mandy James was on hand to finish the job.
