Tring gets fired up for Fairtrade Fortnight
Fairtrade is booming in Tring as the town steps into action for the national celebratory fortnight, beginning this week.
Michael Demidecki, secretary of Tring Justice and Peace Group, which acts as a steering group for Fairtrade, said renewal of the town’s Fairtrade status is also in motion.
Michael said: “We have many more cafes, schools and churches serving Fairtrade than when we started. We now want to increase the number of shops and workplaces serving Fairtrade, and are putting together a dedicated website.”
The group is also promoting the Margaret Demidecka Award for schools, now run by the national Fairtrade Foundation, which started in Tring.
Additionally, four Tring cafes are offering Fairtrade-themed deals until March 10. These include The Akeman in Akeman Street, Isalie, The Fine Food Company at Icknield Way Business Park, Beechwood Fine Foods in Frogmore Street and Dunsley Farm Tea Room in London Road.
