Thousands of pounds snatched in home raid

Theives ransacked a home making off with thousands of pounds that had been saved for a family holiday.

A Hemel Hempstead couple, who are too upset to be identified, had 6,500 stashed in their bedroom - cash that was going to be used to take their children, aged five to 16, abroad.

Jewellery, including diamond rings and a Rolex watch, were also snatched from the home in Hobletts Road.

Burglars struck in broad daylight on Friday, November 6 between 2.15pm and 3pm. They first tried to force open a back door at the property before smashing a conservatory window.

Herts Police has since visited the home to give crime prevention advice.
