The Hub in Redbourn is an coffee shop with a difference.
From the outside bike frames can be seen in the shop window, which is a bit of a clue of what’s in store for visitors to The Hub in Redbourn.
Step inside and you are hit with the smell of real Italian coffee and the sight of walls covered in cycling memorabilia.
Owner, of the coffee shop on the High Street, Simon Barnes is a former runner but after his legs gave up he returned to his first love of cycling.
‘’Cycling is a philosophy that everybody seems to be buying into these days,” he said.
“It is not elitist here, we welcome everyone from cyclists and runners to walkers or the anyone else but we will have the Tour de France on the TV.”
The Hub is a real cyclists refuge where repairs and spare parts are on sale for anyone caught short while out on a ride. You can also browse the new and second hand bikes that are on sale while enjoying a cappuccino and walnut cake.
Simon encourages riders of all abilities to join in his Hub Runs, which consist of 12 miles, 27 miles and 46 miles, starting from the cafe at 9.30am every third Sunday of the month.
