Taxpayers' £1k bill for French 'twinning' trip
Taxpayers in Kings Langley will be forking out £1,000 to enable parish councillors to go on a trip to France to sign a 'friendship charter'.
A delegation of five from the village will spend a weekend in Achiet-le-Grand in northern France to sign the charter, drink wine at a reception and open an exhibition.
Parish clerk Paul Dunham said: "The parish council have set aside 1,000 for the main costs of the trip – hire of the coach and ferry crossing.
"People say: 'What do you get out of twinning?' Hopefully there will be some possibilities for local businesses to make something out of that."
