More than 200 pupils from Abbot’s Hill School took part in a production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver!

They performed to four full houses in the Hemel Hempstead school’s Judi Dench Theatre, with the opening night aptly coinciding with the 201st anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth.

Director and head of drama Felicity Hindmarsh said: “In some respects this was one of our most challenging productions to date. Oliver! is one of the most beloved British musicals with a large cast and a wonderful musical score. The pupils rose to the challenge and gave outstanding performances and the stage management team worked hard to ensure this everything ran smoothly. I am very proud of them.”

Headteacher Elizabeth Thomas said: “It was wonderful to see the whole school coming together and working as a team to create this fantastic production.”
