Stolen pup from Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead.

A three-week-old puppy was snatched from a garden by a man posing as a landscape gardener.

The doorstep crook conned his way into the property in Briery Way, Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead, by offering work to young mum Emily Workman, 19, who was alone at home with her son, aged two.

He gave her a business card before picking up one of the four Staffordshire bull terrier pups, snatching the card back, and making off in a white Ford Transit van at around 10.30am last Thursday.

Emily’s partner Glenn Rendall, 19, who was out at work at the time, said: “He was a big fat man, my missus is 4ft nothing so she couldn’t do anything. I just want the dog back.”

PC Jamie Negrello said: “Firstly I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Briery Way area on September 6 and saw this vehicle or the man driving or was approached by the suspect with regards to landscaping.

“I would also like to appeal to anyone who is aware of where the puppy is now or if they believe they have been offered it for sale to contact police.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Negrello via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number D1/12/5539. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
