Slimmer Mark shares story to inspire others
6th November 2010
A DAD-of-four who launched his own slimming group after shedding the pounds himself is gracing the pages of a glossy weight loss magazine.
Former Hemel Storm basketball player Mark Quashie, pictured, shared his story in Slimming World magazine in a bid to inspire others who are battling the bulge.
With the tag line ‘man of the mag’, Mark is the subject of a five page feature in the March/April edition complete with action shots of him on the basketball court.
Mark, who lives in Northend, Hemel Hempstead, with wife Laura and their children, started gaining weight when a broken foot meant he could no longer play the sport he loved.
After discovering a Slimming World group and dropping almost four stone in weight, the 6ft 7in father wanted to launch his own weight loss sessions.
In October last year his group launched with 16 slimmers at Chambersbury Primary School. Today there are 44 members and 36-year-old Mark has his sights set on enticing more slimmers into the fold.
“The group is growing but it takes time,” said Mark.
They meet at the school in Hill Common, Hemel Hempstead, on Mondays from 7.30pm. To find out more contact Mark on 07830 030809.
