Shot guard remains in serious condition
A security guard shot in the leg during a raid at Tesco in Tring remains in a serious condition.
The 46-year-old man from Harrow, who works for Group Four Securicor (G4S), was ambushed as he made a delivery to a cashpoint at the supermarket.
A shopper who intervened and was shot in the leg is also still in hospital. The 33-year-old from Hemel Hempstead has been described by police as in a serious but stable condition.
They are both being treated at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury.
It is believed one of the robbers attacked the security guard at around 7.30am on Tuesday (September 16) in what police have described as a 'pre-meditated attack'.
The two thieves then made off with a container on a stolen Triumph motorbike. Police have not revealed whether cash was inside the case.
The vehicle was found dumped in an alleyway between Station Road and Mortimer Hill in Tring and the men are believed to have escaped in a white van, which was parked in Treehanger Close.
Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries while also reassuring residents who have been left shocked by the violent robbery.
A Herts Police mobile police station is parked in the car park at Tesco to reassure shoppers. The supermarket reopened as normal today (September 17).
