The launch of a hard hitting anti knife crime educational campaign is being marked with a short story and poster competition for schoolchildren.
This week schools across Dacorum will receive the Anti Knife Crime Education Programme from Billy’s Wish – a charity established in memory of Hemel Hempstead murder victim 21-year-old Billy Dove.
The programme package is made up of a series of films and workshops that target youngsters in school years 6, 7 and 8.
Following a preview to headteachers, senior police officers, politicians and education chiefs, the charity has received overwhelming support and won a national award for the project. Herts Police have requested that the programme be rolled out to the whole county.
To mark the launch a short story and poster competition will run until November 30.
It is being backed by award winning teen fiction author Keren David who will judge the entries. To download entry forms visit www.dacorumlps.org.uk
