Ready for the road
A company will race an old banger through France to raise money for charity.
WinWinWorld, based in Sutton Court, Tring, has bought a 500 silver Volvo V70 to take to Monaco and back in charity event Bangers4Ben, which raises money for automotive industry charity BEN.
Sales director Mat Hutchin and a co-driver from the company, which supplies IT solutions to the industry, will leave for the event on Sunday (September 12).
They hope to raise more than 500 through sponsorship and auctioning the car - which has 117,000 miles on the clock - later this month.
Mr Hutchin said: "As a company we try and give back to the people in the industry who need it.
"The charity is dedicated to people who are unfortunate or have had an accident. It is a very good charity."
It the first time the business will take part in the banger race, in which around 30 teams compete.
Mr Hutchin added: "The objective is to make it to Monaco and back without breaking down too many times."
He and his co-driver hope to complete the route in four days.
BEN is the UK's only charity for past and present employees in the automotive and related industries.
It provides practical, emotional and financial support, as well as care for older people in five care centres across the country.
WinWinWorld was founded in Tring in 1998.
