Readers help to hit target for Sienna’s tricycle wish
MCHG 12-910 Six years old Sienna Hollick of Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead, is hoping to have a special tricycle for Christmas.
A mum has been left gobsmacked by the generosity of people after launching an appeal to buy her disabled daughter a specially adapted trike for Christmas.
Becky Hollick asked for help to foot the bill for the made-to-measure tricycle for six-year-old Sienna, which costs £2,078.
Since the Gazette publicised the appeal, donations - totalling £920 - have flooded in from generous readers.
Mum Becky said: “People have been so generous – it has been amazing. I have been in tears so many times.
“It will be the best Christmas ever, I can’t wait.”
Hardworking parents Becky and David now have all of the money needed for the trike, which is in the process of being made so that it is ready in time for Christmas. It has special handle bar gloves to keep Sienna’s hands in place, foot straps and a rear steering stick.
The youngster suffers from rare West Syndrome, which at its worse caused her to have up to 200 epileptic fits per day. It took a terrible toll on her development, which means she has a mental age of around 10 months, is partially sighted and unable to talk.
