Project to train teenagers who want a career in caring
Community
A group is looking for 10 young people to recruit and train to work in the care sector.
Herts Care Providers Association – a not for profit business – is searching for 16 and 17-year-olds from the Hemel Hempstead area, who are not in education, employment or training, to take part in its Care Cadet project, which gives teens the chance to gain qualifications, provides work experience and a wage of £110 per week. At the end of the one-year programme, cadets can go on to a full adult social care apprenticeship or straight into a job.
Councillor Colette Wyatt-Lowe, who oversees health and adult care at County Hall, said: “Supporting people with disabilities, and with an ageing population, makes it really important for us to develop the next generation of people who can undertake a caring role in the world of adult social care.”
