Plans afoot for Room 201 club

Talks are taking place over the future of the Room 201 nightclub in Hemel Hempstead.

The Marlowes nightspot has been closed for years but the owners are having discussions with officers from Dacorum Borough Council that could lead to a planning application.

Meanwhile, work has taken place to improve the appearance of the building, which had become run down and was raised with Councillor Terry Douris, cabinet member for planning and regeneration at the council, in September.

He said: “Within the month they have put up a proper shutter, pending another planning application for it.

“It doesn’t look like a dump any longer.”

Previously the club was called Fusion, which was shut down in 2001 following a mass brawl between travellers.

In 2004 it was granted a new licence as Room 201, operating for several years before closing.
