Out of danger
A hammering of Haywards Heath lifted Tring RUFC out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.
Four players touched down for Tring, who are now four off the bottom in National league Three London and South East.
The first five-pointer was scored within five minutes of the start on Saturday by Michael Vaughan.
Tom Newton missed the conversion on an off day for the Tring kicker.
Owen Ashton was more precise with his kicking as he found his mark three times in the opening 20 minutes.
Tim Holgate scored a 10th minute try, but Newton failed to get the extras and missed another three penalties before the break.
Sean Jarrold, taking over kicking duties, also failed to hit the mark with his 33rd minute three pointer.
A flurry of tries came in the first 20 minutes of the second half.
Newton notched a 50th minute penalty before Michael Hicks, Rory Wood and Holgate again added to the home side's tally, while Newton, taking over kicking duties again, steered two of the three conversions between the sticks.
Owen Ashton salvaged some pride for his side with a late try and conversion but it couldn't dampen Tring celebrations as they moved into 11th place, with a little help from a bonus point.
Both the first team and the IIs go to Havant next weekend.
