THE online neighbourhood watch initiative OWL has reached a milestone with the registration of its 10,000th scheme.

It means more than 78,000 homes and businesses are receiving alerts and updates covering crime prevention and witness appeals.

Watch schemes are formed by groups of people keen to be involved in keeping themselves safe and informed on community issues.
