Two visitors from Dacorum’s German twin town Neu-Isenburg were taken on a whistle stop tour of the best the borough has to offer.

Community Action Dacorum teamed up with the Dacorum Interfaith Network and three borough councillors – Alex Bhinder, William Wyatt-Lowe and Graham Adshead – to organise the visit.

Community Action Dacorum chief executive Mark Mitchell said: “We want to increase the links between the two places.

“We will be looking at, in 2013, the ability to go across to visit and continue to explore possibilities for the future.”

During their three-day stay, Imke Voth and Margit Emde, went to South Hill and Hemel Hempstead schools, visited churches, met Dacorum Mayor Bert Chapman and Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning, enjoyed a tour of the new Royal Mail sorting office and Boundary Way business FFEI, met voluntary sector leaders, took in the scenery at Ashridge, found out about the Box Moor Trust, saw Radio Dacorum in action and went to the Snow Centre and the XC.

The trip came about after Neu-Isenburg’s council wrote to Dacorum Borough Council asking if chiefs there wanted to continue ties with the German town.
