New playhouse for youngsters
17/1/12 New Play area at Orchard Children's Centre, Tring. Suzanne Newman and Jasmine Budden, eleven months.
Playful youngsters will finally be able to spread the fun outside after the opening of their new play area.
Youngsters at Orchard Children’s Centre at Dundale Primary School in Silk Mill Way, Tring, took advantage of a new playhouse, table and slide when it opened.
Previously, its members could not play outside during term times because the playground is used by the nearby school.
Centre manager Andrea Kelly said: “It means we can just have an extension of the fun. It gives us more space and we can use it in all weathers.
“It is really important to their wellbeing and nice to be out in the fresh air and have room to run around.”
She said the children have had a really positive reaction to their new play area, which also includes an area to grow plants.

It was funded with the help of a £1,000 contribution from Tring Town councillor Nick Hollinghurst’s locality budget.
Mrs Kelly said the centre is attended by at least 100 children every week.
She added: “Everything we do we run all year round.”
The centre also runs messy play events for children up to eight years old on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10am until 11.30am. Entry is free.
