Lynnea Shrief and her son Roman, now two.

A MUM-OF-TWO says that ingesting your own placenta after giving birth will do you the world of good.

Lynnea Shrief, of Ridgeway, Berkhamsted, says they are full of vitamins that help boost breast milk supply, reduce post-natal bleeding and ward off the baby blues.

She said: “It never made sense to me why people throw their placentas away.

“Animals eat them straight away after birth. Why don’t we?”

From Wikipedia; Obstetrician and spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Maggie Blott disputes the post-natal depression theory, stating there is no medical reason to eat the placenta; "Animals eat their placenta to get nutrition - but when people are already well-nourished, there is no benefit, there is no reason to do it." Nuff said !!!

Absolutely disgusting, another cranky idea some idiot has dreamed up, it is a waste product, you should never eat or drink any waste product your body has ejected. Animals lick their new born to clean them.

Made me cringe just reading this article let alone eating the placenta....I think we should leave this to the animals. I could just see the hospital midwives saying to you , would you like a doggy bag for your placenta , after giving birth ....lovely NOT !!!!
