New NHS job for hospital boss who had to quit

THE man who quit as boss of hospitals in west Herts due to poor performance has returned to a top job in the county’s NHS.

David Law resigned as chief executive of West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust in 2007 after it racked up millions of pounds of debt and watchdogs rated it among the worst in the country for two years running.

Now Mr Law is to be chief executive at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, which runs services including community nursing, physiotherapy and health visiting.

Trust chairman Declan O’Farrell, also commenting on the appointment of Hemal Desai as medical director, said: “We are delighted to have been able to acquire the services of such high quality people.”

Mr Law spent three years as hospital boss, overseeing the closure of the Hemel Birth Centre, the end of plans for a ‘surgicentre’ in the town, centralisation of services in Watford and the move of planned surgery to St Albans, later described by his successor as ‘botched’.

After leaving the trust he worked for the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement.

Is Stevenage still in Hertfordshire? That seems to be the current destination of choice. Just 2 and a half hours by bus, don't even think about a train and an hour if you speed in the car. Just like Watford, really!

Perhaps his new plan is to close all the facilities in the Hertfordshire area. They always reward incompetence.

'Overseeing the closure of the Hemel Birth Centre'. That bit on his CV must have clinched the job for him, something to be proud of and talk about at his free lunches. I cannot believe these parasites can sleep at night, what a joke....

Couldn't agree more fredkarno, I remembered emailing this idiot the day before he resigned and hoped my email helped him go. My complaint was about the appalling conditions my late Dad endured during the last hours of his life, from the disgusting filthy wards, and the lack of compassion from the so called caring Nurses.
