New festival proves to be a hit with visitors

A brand new festival held at the weekend, featuring local crafts and produce, has been hailed a success.

The Box Moor Trust’s Wood, Wool and Food Festival was held on Saturday and was the first of its kind for the trust.

Hundreds visited the festival held on Blackbirds Moor in Hemel Hempstead to see the range of local goods on offer.

As well as local produce, including fruit and veg, cheese and wine, there was also sheep shearing, wood carving and children’s activities taking place during the festival.

Elaine Rushton from the trust said: “It was a new feature for us so we weren’t really sure how it was going to go, but in the end it went really well.

“Lots of people came down on the day and the stallholders seemed really pleased. Several of them sold out of their goods.

“There was a really good atmosphere and we’ll definitely be looking to hold it again next year.”
