Murder trial date is set

The trial of a 30-year-old Hemel Hempstead man accused of murdering grandfather Thomas Baird at his Highfield home on Friday night is scheduled to begin in July.

James Carbott, of Epping Green, Hemel Hempstead was remanded in custody after a brief appearance at St Albans Crown Court yesterday.

The body of 63-year-old Mr Baird was found after a fire at his bungalow in Westerdale.

The case was adjourned for a plea and case management hearing in June, and the trial is set to start on July 22.
