Mum 'cheated' out of cash under benefit rules

A single mum claims she is being cheated out of cash because housing chiefs have classed her Tring home within the Aylesbury district.

Michelle Checketts has to find extra money each month towards the cost of rent.

Government rules mean she gets an Aylesbury rate for housing benefit rather than the higher Dacorum pay-outs.

The 21 year old, who recently moved to the area, receives 155.77 a week towards her two bedroom maisonette in Carrington Place.

However, if her home was listed under Dacorum - the borough she actually lives in - she would get almost 35 more.

This would cover the full monthly rent bill of 750.
