Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:26 AMThe problem coming from Waterhouse Street, when you turn into Moor End Lane you immediately look ahead for a couple of seconds to check the road & the lights, by which time the sign is out of vision. Belatedly painting the road green is an admission of omission.

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 06:06 AMWhen you post in these comments the site removes the forward slashes from any links making it impossible to post them correctly and consequently for people to reach the information. The post below has several links all now incorrect. For the link to the petition: Google Herts CC click on their web site enter the word Petitions into the search box, click Go, click Hertfordshire petitions, scroll down to REFUND OUR BUS LANE FINES. + click on it. For Stuart Pile Contact Details: Enter the word councillors in the search box click go, click on Hertfordshire County Councillors, scroll down to Stuart Pile + click on his name. NO ABUSIVE CALLS - KEEP TO THE MORAL HIGH GROUND. For the link to the story on Sheffield refunds: Google Search Sheffield Tram Gate Refunds the BBC story comes up first in the list. The link to www.notomob.co.uk is fine ! Copy and paste it. For Hemel Info.: Enter the word Hemel into the search box + click search a choice of 5 pages of info will come up. For the story on the Richmond refunds scroll down on the homepage to Richmond and click. Go to: RICHMOND CAPITULATE - COLOSSAL VICTORY FOR THE MOB AND COMMON SENSE. + click.- Simples!

Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 05:13 AMFirstly the link above to the Petition is wrong it should be: https:consult.hertsdirect.orgpetitionspetition?petition_id=15171 Or go to Herts County Council search petitions, Hertfordshire petitions, REFUND OUR BUS LANE FINES. When 1000 signatures (online and paper) are received It will force a full public debate at Council. It is quite apparent that 10,000 motorists would not break the law intentionally. This proves that the signage is not doing its job. This ought to win automatically on Appeal at the Traffic Penalty Tribunal (TPT). There was a similar case in Sheffield. See: http:news.bbc.co.uk1hienglandsouth_yorkshire7447327.stm The situation in Hemel is no different. The problem that Herts. County Council will have is that out of every £30 penalty they only receive £8. The company doing the processing get the other £22. Herts. CC have therefore cost taxpayers £220,000 + £150,000 costs of the cameras + the costs of administering the refunds that are sure to follow. The cameras and fines have done nothing to improve compliance therefore it has all been a complete waste of public money. There are blatant issues with the signage and road markings. There are also multiple issues with the PCN itself. These issues make the PCN invalid. When I spoke to Stuart Pile The Executive Member for Highways & Transport one evening last week he was unrepentant saying see you in court! People who think that they are sending their representations to Herts. CC are being fooled. The address for these representations is a PO Box in Nottingham. These representations go to the processing company who have an interest in maintaining their income. 1. Sign the petition 2. Put in a TPT Appeal. ask for a Personal Hearing. Do not send any evidence - say it will follow. You can only do this after you receive a rejection to your representations. Just use one word for these UNLAWFUL - Please send me a TPT form. It is pointless giving any details as they will automatically reject representations no matter what they are. 3. Contact Mr Pile his contact details are available on the Councils web site. 4. Go to: www. notomob.co.uk there is a dedicated page to this topic. NoToMob Members have been at Moor End Road supporting this campaign by assisting the Council with their signage obligations. They have saved thousands of motorists from being fined. Nigel Wise. Responsible along with the NoToMob for getting Richmond upon Thames Council to refund £1.1M in unlawful penalties issued by CCTV over a two year period. See: http:notomob.co.ukdiscussionsindex.phptopic,1281.0.html All links above will need to be copied and pasted into your browser.

Monday, September 19, 2011 at 04:33 PMI admire the public-spritedness of the volunteers who tried last Saturday to warn drivers of the probability of being fined if their drive through Moor End Road. Unbelieveably some still drove through in spite of a) heavy media coverage; b) big yellow signs at Leighton Buzzard Rd and others c) big direction signs on Leighton Buzzard Rd and others c) traffic signs prohibiting entry to vehicles other than buses and taxis d) green surfacing and big 'BUSES AND TAXIS ONLY' painted on the ground e) four big blokes with hi-viz jackets carrying pictures of traffic cameras, for the hard of understanding, indicating cars to stop. For some drivers there is no hope !

Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:35 PMWhat is certain about this "bus lane" is that it is not correctly signed as such. The signs that are there indicate that the road is restricted. Bus Lane signs are blue with white pictograms showing the permitted class(es) of vehicle(s). Furthermore the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) established by Herts CC only refers to traffic moving in a westerly direction. There is no extant TRO regulating traffic travelling eastwards towards Leighton Buzzard Road. Last Saturday a group of volunteers from the NoToMob were present at Moor End Road warning motorists about the presence of the cameras. They saved several hundred drivers from possible fines. On Saturday 17 September there will also be a NoToMob presence to repeat the action during the morning and early afternoon. If you have received a ticket and wish to contest it, their members will be very happy to offer guidance. If you cannot meet the volunteers please visit their website where a section has been set up especially for the Moor End Road enforcement activity.

Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 09:45 PMi have been reading SPEAKERS CORNER in the GAZETTE. THISIS@WES SMITH deputy editor.firstly people who are new to the area may not know their way round the town ie visiting on business etc. why if it was so clear when the rule first came in did it catch so many people out. ? quentin wilson visited the site last week with day break tv programme and he is an experienced motoristadvisor and he said it was all wrongely signaged etc. if the job was so perfectly done why were hcc on site marking the roads etc last weekend markng roads etc. this should of all been done before the enforcement was started. not everyone buys the gazette and indeed if any body prior to visiting hemel had looked at the google map on hcc site , they would have looked at it and thought it was acurate, when in fact itis very innaccurate and they have broken the law by changing it. i hope they get sued. inciddentally why didnt you run a story about the map being meddled with

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 08:43 AMI really must stop reading these columns; the degree of ignorance shown is incredible. Someone once said that if you sat enough monkeys at a typewriter they could write the Bible. I think they had a point.

Monday, September 12, 2011 at 04:49 PMWorkmen were out yesterday (Sunday 11th) applying green surfacing and 'Buses and Taxis' only signs to Moor End Road. The same signs are still there, so there's really no hope for you if you get caught now !
