Mobile CCTV camera plan for trouble areas
CCTV cameras could be keeping a watchful eye over the streets of Berkhamsted if a bid by town councillors is successful.
Finance committee members have agreed to seek out a partner among neighbouring parish councils to collectively purchase mobile CCTV equipment.
The complete package, that councillors have suggested, which would overlook Church Lane and Canal Fields, could have a 20,000 price tag. But pairing up with another council to fund the purchase could make the security measure a reality.
The mobile cameras would be shared between Berkhamsted and its potential partner, depending on where there are problem areas of antisocial behaviour.
Councillors plan to make a joint application to install the equipment if their search for a collaboration is successful.
