Metal detector find worth up to £250,000

A woman from Hemel Hempstead has dug up a gold pendant that could reach up to £250,000 at auction.

Mary Hannaby a permanent carer for her husband in St Margarets, Great Gaddesden, dug up a 15th century gold pendant depicting the Holy Trinity.

She made the find back in 2007, but the piece goes under the hammer at Sotheby's in London on Thursday, July 9.

To see a picture of the pendant, and to find out about the split second decision that looks to have changed her life and what she plans to do with the money, see Wednesday's Gazette.
